My proudest work I took in Japan.

I went to Hokkaido, Japan thinking it is another country-side as it well-known for its milk. Little did I know that it is city-like, excluding the rush.

Entering a music box shop was the highlight of the trip, according to me. As the walk there was surprisingly pleasant. Small breeze, no ice on the ground and pretty little buildings in that area. I even passed by a Hello Kitty themed shop! Too bad I did not get to enter due to too much time at this petite music box shop.

It felt like time had stopped when I entered the music box shop. It was like I am in an actual music box! It had antique decorations, areas filled with mostly music boxes. Photography was not prohibited hence it was heaven to me as I wanted to share this place badly. Other than music boxes, miniatures were everywhere as well! My other favourite.

This Carousel was a mixture of both. I was elated when I found out this part of the shop! Miniature music boxes everywhere. Surprisingly, the angle and lighting for this picture was perfect! I did not do much to get this photo, so I am guessing it was the whole atmosphere of the shop that allowed such accomplishment. I was delighted when I saw such perfection on my camera's screen. It took me a while to believe that this was taken by yours truly.

I love how the horses are shining and the carousel sparkly, without looking clashing or blinding. It was like a princess' dream, even though we would rather ride on a white horse behind a prince's back. However this is the next closest thing a girl can ever treasure! It is extremely pretty, sparkly and shiny; what most girls adore.

Too bad my Mom did not understand how this toy(Yes. She sees it as a toy.) could make me feel like a princess, hence I could not buy this or any other pretty things in the shop. I am still glad I got to enter this warm and fuzzy music box (shop).

My first musical

Today i am going to blog about the first musical i attended in my entire life. The first musical i attended is called "Catch me if you can"
if you are not sure or have not heard what the musical is about,
Catch Me If You Can is a musical adapted from a 2002 American biographical crime drama film with the same name Catch me if you can. the film is directed and produced by Steven Spielberg.  The musical follows the story of con artist Frank Abagnale Jr. which before turning 19 years old, By posing as a pilot, a doctor, and a prosecutor Frank Abagnale Jr successfully performed cons worth millions of dollars. However although His primary crime was check fraud, he was so skillful that the FBI eventually turned to him for help in catching other con artists.
I watched this musical in 22nd febuary 2013 in seoul, korea. I was excited and thrilled and not knowing what to expect as it was my first watching a musical and what more in a country that is not home, moreover i was going to watch the musical alone. i took a cab to the musical venue and when i alighted the cab, tons of banners (for the musical) and floral stands for the musical actors/singer greeted my eyes. It was eye opening and over-whelming that i had to snap a few pictures, after which i rushed to collect my musical ticket that i booked on http://ticket.interpark.com/Global/Index.asp?Kind=01003 when i was in singapore. i was lucky to have booked a first row and middle coloum ticket to musical. The ticket costed around 120,000won which is around 140sgd.
The musical experience
Its was a phenomenal and astounding experience for me as the props and backdrop was so realistic that it took my breathe away. It was so amazing and incredible that they took so little time to change the set to another scene .There was one part of the musical where the stage became to two-level stage, it made my jaw dropped at how fast they did it. the costumes of the musical actors was also so well detailed and pretty And although the musical was in korean, despite the language barrier i still can feel the emotions from the songs and dance choreography. i could relate to the thoughts, feelings and the internal struggle the main character,Frank Abagnale Jr. was going through. Such a great job well done to the Musical actors, crew and staff to the musical of Catch me if you can.
This musical left such a deep impression on me that many scenes of the musical still linger in my mind up till now. And going into the musical venue not knowing what to expect and leaving the venue with a mind-blowing experience, i can proudly say that it was a great 140dollars spent. Because of this musical, i learnt so much and i became interested in musicals. Catch me if you can is a must watch!! I hope it comes to Singapore so that i can watch it again and you can catch this amazing musical too!!
(this is a picture of the musical actors near the end of the musical, as you can see in the picture the costumes are so well-detailed and beautiful)

Element of Art

This is a final artwork i did for my 2D fundamentals module earlier this year.

It is shown in this artwork that the word "Hubbub" is displayed which also means a chaotic din caused by a crowd of people. The circles portrays crowds that are of different texture and designs, which shows that Singapore is a multi-racial countrry made up of many different religions.

The buildings are also shown in a perspective way which gives a 3D feeling. It is decorated with typography, aryclic paint, watercolour paint, drawing pen that drew out textures, stickers, cuts-outs from magazines and newspapers. This depict buildings and architectures that are really chaotic and noisy in a sense of fluorescent colours and vibrancy.

The sky also has twirls and curls in the shades of purple, light blue and blue. It shows the gradient that the skies have and produces a very noisy and messy feeling.

Overall, i took about two weeks to finish and i stayed up a few nights to complete it. My most favorite part in this entire artwork would be the circles because it took me a really long time to finish it and some friends helped me too. However if i am given a choice again, i would want to go through this again. But with the help of my friends of course.

Hubbub

Hubbub

This is a piece of artwork I did for one of my modules in school. It is based more on showcasing a chaotic and noisy piece, thus the title Hubbub.

The materials I used for this piece consists of acrylic paint, water colour, oil pastel, paint, markers and sketching pens. The idea I had of Hubbub was to implicate the main attractions in Singapore, like the cone-shaped building of Wheelock Place, Universal Studios Singapore's (USS) globe at the entrance, the structure of the rollercoaster rides in USS and a water display I had watched outside The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. These places has a lot of visitors every day which is easier for me to make it into a more 'alive' piece.

This piece made me feel proud of my work because I took a lot of time and effort to finish it. I was quite satisfied with the outcome and all my hard work has paid off!
